Adam’s Story
Adam is a day trader who has earned his $50k badge at Warrior Trading. During his early years of learning how to day trade Adam struggled with the emotional burden of trading. In fact, he said in his experience day trading is 90% mental and only 10% strategy. This is a common theme among many beginner traders. They understand how to read candlestick charts, they know how to use Level 2, they understand momentum trading in general, and yet they still struggle. The struggle is in having the discipline to cut losses, adhere to max loss rules, and stop trading when they cross certain loss thresholds on any given day. Without the discipline to stop when things are going poorly, trades will suffer unnecessary losses.
Adam’s Strategy
Adam’s turning point came in part through his own efforts in retraining himself to be more disciplined, and in part due to a shift in his strategy. Adam began trading focusing exclusively on small caps and lower priced stocks, but in part due to the tools he was using, and in part due to his natural aptitudes, he found himself more inclined to trade reversals versus chasing momentum. His shift in strategy was to focus on trading reversals when stocks are extremely extended. By scanning for the biggest extremes each day, he looks to take the opposite position and catch a quick bounce on a weak stock or a quick pullback on a strong stock.
